Visit the waterfalls near Lake Idro

A short distance from Lake Idro, just across the border in Trentino, in Storo (TN) you can find beautiful waterfalls. We’ll visit three of them. The Gac waterfall (Cascata Storo), the Palvico waterfall and the Ampola waterfall.

    Gac waterfall

The Gac waterfall is somewhat smaller but certainly not less beautiful.

It is located at the beginning of Storo (if you come from the direction of Idro Lake). After the two bridges you immediately turn left and drive to the end. Park your car here in front of the playground and walk about 50 metres to the north.

In the park there is a nice playground for the little adventurers and you can enjoy a walk or a bike ride along the cycle paths along the ‘Chiese’ river. For a snack or a refreshing drink, you can go to the ‘Bici Grill’. It is located on the cycle path, a few kilometres to the north.

    Palvico waterfall

The Palvico waterfall is a beautiful waterfall. It is 54 metres high and with a bit of luck, you will see people who have done a canyoning tour descending from the waterfall. You can swim in the lake and enjoy the peace of this little piece of paradise.

This waterfall is situated at the end of the village Storo (or at the beginning if you are coming from the direction of lake Ledro). From the main road take Via E Miglio behind Bar Firi and continue until the last parking place before the trout farm. Leave your car here, (don’t leave valuables in sight) and continue on foot. After a short walk of about 10 minutes you will see the waterfall appear. (Tip, take good shoes with you, to get to the waterfall you first go on a path but then you have to go over stones and small rocks. Flip flops are not really an option).

    Ampola waterfall

To get to the Ampola waterfall, we drive about 5 km in the direction of Lake Ledro. This is also a real pearl. The water is wonderfully fresh and therefore very refreshing on hot summer days. It is quite crowded in summer, so try to go a little earlier in the morning.
