Mountain bike routes at Lake Idro

To discover the most beautiful spots on and around Lake Idro, take mountain bike or hiking routes. Read up on the best mountain bike routes from Lake Idro for every level.

The most trained and experienced bikers cannot help but explore the mountains of Valle Sabbia during their holidays. Here are three MTB routes not to be missed from Idro.

MTB routes for the best trained and experienced bikers

Idro – Baremone – Maniva very demanding route, 56 km up and down the most beautiful mountains of Valle Sabbia.
Idro – Presegno 37 km very demanding cycling, discovering the picturesque village of Presegno. In some places you will have to get off your MTB as some sections are pedestrianised.
Capovalle’s 100 hairpin bends are ideal for downhill experts. Round trip starting in the village of Vantone and ending on Monte Stino in Capovalle. Take a short break to visit the trenches with panoramic views of Lake Idro.

Mountain bike route for experienced cyclists

Round trip from Idro, cycling through the mountains overlooking Lake Idro. Wonderful panoramic views via Lavenone and Vestone to return to Idro via a different route.

    Cycling routes for families

This area offers not only routes for experts, but also cycle paths suitable for everyone, including families with children who want to have fun along the way.

    • Discovering the Valle del Chiese. From Ponte Caffaro, heading north along the River Chiese is a beautiful cycle path that continues towards Storo and further into the valley. A route to discover the nature of the Valle del Chiese, ideal for families with children. The route to Storo has a considerable altitude difference up to Lake Roncone, so be aware of that. But cycle as far as you can, the route is breathtaking.
    • Up and down the Valle Sabbia. Did you know that there is a cycle path connecting the Valle Sabbia to Lake Garda and the city of Brescia? It is called the Greenway and the section between Vestone and Barghe is very evocative thanks to the pedestrian bridge suspended over the River Chiese, from where you can admire the fortress of Nozza and its village. Only a short stretch in the municipality of Barghe remains to be connected, here one is forced to pass the national road, now with little traffic, in the town of San Gottardo. Passing through the centre of Sabbio Chiese to continue to Vobarno via the old tramway, at Roè Volciano you can decide whether to continue towards Brescia, along the river Chiese, or to descend towards Salò and continue towards Valtenesi.
