Fort Corno, built between 1883 and 1890 on the right flank of the Chiese valley, at an altitude of 1069 m near the village of Praso, was designed to integrate the earlier Lardaro defence line consisting of Forts Larino, Danzolino and Revegler.
The fort fits very well into the rocky setting according to its morphology along five east-to-west oriented levels and has an irregular layout.
It was disarmed shortly before the outbreak of the Great War, as it was considered obsolete. The artillery and turret howitzers were transferred to underground structures, dug entirely into the rock, which were built in the surrounding area, the most important of which is at the Peschiera location.
