This via ferrata is suitable for children from 7/8 years old. Children must of course be a bit adventurous and always accompanied by an experienced person.
You can start from Vesta or Baitoni. The same starting point applies to both as for the “sentiero dei contrabandiere / smuggler’s path”. The way back can be via the via ferrata or take a nice walk on the old smugglers’ path.
Another option, during the summer months, is to take the ferryboat, but keep an eye on the timetable !!
During the via ferrata you have a beautiful view over the lake and in some places you can even touch the water. Take a dip in the fresh water when you are feeling warm from all the efforts! Of course where possible. Do not take the emergency exits to get to the water.
Helmet and harness are mandatory and of course suitable shoes for the mountains.
The via ferrata takes about 2.5 hours. 2.7 km equipped and 1.5 km normal path.
The smugglers’ path, ‘Via del Contrabbandiere‘ takes about 1.5 hours.
Remember to bring enough water.
The Ferrata Sasse is considered moderate / easy, with some not very difficult passages; however, it is a ferrata in mountainous surroundings and whoever follows it must be well aware of his own capabilities.
