Read about my unique experience at Cima Rest! My weekend consisted of many kilometres of walks, delicious food and a night in a typical thatched barn that you only find in this area.
There are those locations that have something extra. A positive energy that makes you happy. Cima Rest is one of them. Once you are here, it feels good. I went by car this time, it’s about 45 minutes from Idro. But keep an hour longer because you will often stop on the way to see the beautiful villages. Last year I did it by bike and made a day tour of 65 km. For the cycling enthusiasts, this is highly recommended.
Cima Rest
The village of Cima Rest (1257 m) is located in the northern part of Val Vestino (BS), in the municipality of Magasa, is surrounded by beautiful meadows and is known for its characteristic barns, typical stone buildings with a very sloping thatched roof. Once they served as houses, barns and stables, now they are special accommodations for a truly unique holiday!
360° degrees of green
After a warm welcome and check-in by the manager of Borgo Cima rest, Fiore, I put on my walking shoes and started exploring the surroundings. You really are surrounded by greenery and footpaths through 360°. Wow, what a view! You can choose an easy route but also for lovers of more intensive routes, there is plenty of choice.
Monte Baldo
After a few hours of walking, I returned to Borgo Cima Rest. I had earned an aperitivo, I thought to myself, and from the terrace of the restaurant you have a magnificent view over the valley and you can see Monte Baldo in the background. There was even snow on it! Really not a punishment to sit there.
Marti
In the evening, pasta alla boscaiola and gnocchi di pane were on the menu. A good glass of wine and my day was complete. After enjoying my first day, I walked to my little house, ‘Marti’. There are three in total; Tronc, Pief and Marti. The first two are for up to 6 people. Under the thatched roof is a dormitory with 6 beds. Downstairs is the kitchen, dining area and bathroom.
Marti is the same surface but is for max 3 persons. So for couples an ideal romantic location!
Bocca alle Croce
I slept like a log, you hear absolutely nothing. No traffic, no chaos, nothing! Just the birds singing in the morning. After a delicious breakfast with freshly baked cake, it was time to put on my walking shoes again. Where yesterday I had made a short walk, today I had a goal; Bocca alle Croce. From here, you have a beautiful view and if the weather is clear, you can see Lake Garda and Sirmione. On the way, you pass an observatory and come across huge oak trees! In all shapes and sizes. It is very fashionable to hug them, so I embraced some without hesitation as if we had been friends for years. The first part is very easy to walk, halfway it gets steeper but after about 30 minutes it gets pretty flat again. Finally, when I reached the end point, I was lucky and could see for miles. After a sandwich and enjoying the view and the sun it was time to go back.
Then after enjoying ‘my’ house Marti a for a little more and reading a book in the garden it was time to go home again, with pain in the heart because I really enjoyed it here.
If you are looking for a nice experience during your holiday at Lake Idro, book one night (or more) in one of these beautiful houses. Just the two of you or with the whole family! It really is an experience!!!!
